The whole process runs in stages. Each stage builds on the last, so it’s worth taking a few extra minutes at the script step before moving forward.

How to Get There

Click “Content Studio” in the left menu. On the “What will you create?” screen, select “B-Roll Voice-over Ad.”

Step 1: Choose How to Start

The first screen gives you two options: “Generate with AI”: HeyOz writes your script and builds a storyboard for you based on your product and goals. This is the most common starting point. “Write manually”: If you already have a script, you can paste it in and use it to build the storyboard yourself. Select “Generate with AI” to continue with the steps below.

Step 2: Select Your Ad Goal

The next screen asks “What’s the main goal of your ad?” Pick the one that fits your campaign:
  • Drive Sales: focused on getting people to buy now.
  • Explain Features: shows how your product works.
  • Build Awareness: introduces your brand to new audiences.
  • Announce Launch: tells people about something new.
  • Solve a Problem: uses a before/after transformation structure.
  • Generate Leads: aimed at signups, downloads, or contact actions.
  • Showcase Use Case: demonstrates real-world product application.
  • Build Trust: establishes credibility and addresses objections.
You can also click “Write your own” to describe a custom goal. Click “Continue.”

Step 3: Select Your Target Audience

HeyOz pulls the buyer personas saved in your product profile and displays them here. Each persona includes a brief description with age range, income, location, and lifestyle details. Select the persona that best matches who you’re trying to reach with this ad. If none of the saved personas fit, you can describe a custom audience instead. Click “Continue.”

Step 4: Select Your Product and Images

The next screen asks “What are we promoting today?” Click the product you want to feature. You can select up to 5 products if your ad covers multiple items. Click “View all products” if yours isn’t shown on the first screen. After selecting a product, you’ll see a second section to select images for the ad. HeyOz automatically shows images from your Media Library. Click “Add from library” to add more. Up to 14 images can be included. Below the images section, you’ll also see an optional “Choose Actors” area. This lets you pick an AI actor to appear consistently across scenes in the video. Browse the HeyOz Actors library or switch to “My Actors” if you’ve saved custom characters. You can also click “Skip” to generate without an actor. Click “Continue” when ready.

Step 5: Configure Your Script

This screen has three settings to fill before generating: Video Duration: Choose 30, 60, or 90 seconds. Longer durations mean more scenes and a higher token cost. Video Aspect Ratio: Portrait, Landscape, or Square. Pick based on where the ad is going. Portrait works for TikTok and Instagram Stories, Landscape for YouTube, Square for general social use. Additional Instructions (Optional): This is where you can give HeyOz creative direction. Describe tone, style, or specific talking points you want in the script. The field supports up to 1,000 characters. Examples shown on screen include notes like “Make it feel like a dramatic movie trailer” or “Use a sarcastic, deadpan humor style throughout.” When everything looks right, click “Generate Voiceover Script.”

Step 6: Edit Your Script and Choose a Voice

Script generation takes a few seconds. Once done, you’ll see the full voiceover script in an editable text field. Read through it carefully before moving on. This script becomes the foundation for every scene in your video, so fixing anything here is much faster than adjusting it later. You can make direct edits inside the text field. There are also three tools above it: Add Expression, Add Pause, and Voice Settings, which give you more control over how the narration sounds. If the tone or content needs a bigger adjustment, use the “Refine your script” field at the bottom. Type a note like “Add humor to my script” and click Refine to regenerate with that direction applied. Below the script, you’ll see a row of voice options. Click the play button next to any voice to preview it. Click “See all voices” to browse the full library. Once you’re happy with the script and voice selection, you have two buttons: “Generate Voiceover” to generate the audio first and then create the storyboard. “Create Storyboard” to move straight to storyboard generation. The token costs for each action are shown next to the buttons. Click whichever fits your workflow.

Step 7: Review and Animate Your Storyboard

Storyboard generation takes 2 to 4 minutes. You can leave the page and come back later. Once done, you’ll see the storyboard laid out as individual beats, each tied to a specific moment in the narration. Each beat shows the timestamp, the narration line it covers, and a description of the animation that will be applied. As images generate for each beat (this takes 1 to 2 minutes per beat), they appear in the storyboard. Each beat also has an “Edit” button if you want to swap the image or adjust the visual before animating. You can also click the “Music” tab at the top to review or adjust the background music track before animating. When you’re satisfied with the storyboard, click “Animate Storyboard.” The token cost is shown on the button. Animation takes 3 to 5 minutes per beat. If any beats fail during animation, tokens are automatically refunded for those scenes. Once all beats are animated, you’ll see a preview of the video alongside each scene. If a scene doesn’t look right, click “Regenerate” on that specific beat. You can also generate an alternate variant using the ”+” button next to each scene. When everything looks good, click “Go to Video Editor.”

Step 8: Edit in the Video Editor

The Video Editor opens your completed video with the full timeline visible at the bottom. From the left panel you can:
  • Add Images to insert additional visuals into the timeline.
  • Add Text to overlay titles, captions, or callouts.
  • Add Subtitles to auto-generate or manually add subtitle tracks.
  • Generate Music to create a new background track or adjust the existing one.
  • Generate Sound Effects to add audio layers to specific moments.
  • Adjust Timeline Settings to fine-tune clip order, pacing, and durations.
The subtitle track is shown as a purple bar along the bottom of the timeline. Play through the video using the playback controls to review the final result before exporting.

Step 9: Export and Share

When the video is ready, click “Re-export” in the top right corner. An export panel will open on the right side, showing a progress bar and estimated time. While it exports, you’ll see two options: Download and Post to Socials. You can click “Post to Socials” before the export finishes and HeyOz will queue it for publishing once the file is ready. Once complete, the panel switches to a “Share Video” view showing a thumbnail of the final video alongside Export, Download, and Post to Socials buttons. Your completed video is saved automatically to My Creations and can be edited or reposted anytime.
