How to Use the Video Editor
The Video Editor is where you turn a raw clip into a finished piece. You can bring in more footage, add text and captions, build a soundtrack, trim and adjust the video, and set it up for any platform, all in one place. This guide walks you through each step. Step 1: Open Your Video From your Content Studio or Media Library, click the video you want to work on. The video opens with the editing tools around the canvas. Step 2: Open the Video Editor Click Open Video Editor to load your video onto the timeline, ready to change. Step 3: Add Media and Creations Click Add Media to bring in more footage. Pull clips and images from your library, upload new files, or drop in another creation you have already made. Use this to build a sequence instead of a single shot. Step 4: Add Text Click Add Text to place titles, captions, or callouts on your video. Choose from the different text styles, then set the font, size, color, and timing so each line appears when you want it. Step 5: Add Subtitles Click Add Subtitles to caption your video. HeyOz turns the spoken words into on-screen text so your video still lands when it plays on mute. Step 6: Add Animated Subtitles For more energy, switch on Animated Subtitles. Your captions appear word by word in sync with the audio, which keeps viewers watching and holds attention through the clip. Step 7: Add Music Click Add Music to score your video. Pick a track from the built-in library, or create your own by typing a single prompt that describes the mood you want. Step 8: Add Sound Effects Click Add Sound Effects to layer in extra audio. Generate the effect you need, then place it on the timeline to punch up a moment or a transition. Step 9: Edit Your Video Trim, split, and reorder your clips on the timeline. Cut the parts you do not need and arrange the rest so the video flows the way you want. Step 10: Set Your Ratio Choose the aspect ratio for where the video will run. Pick Portrait for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts, Landscape for YouTube, or Square for feed posts. Step 11: Export Your Video When the video looks and sounds right, click Export to save it. Your finished video downloads in full quality, ready to use anywhere. Step 12: Post to Socials To publish straight from HeyOz, click Post. Choose your connected account, add your caption, and send it live or schedule it for later.Tips
- Lay down your footage first. Build the sequence on the timeline before you add text, captions, or sound, so everything lines up.
- Turn on animated subtitles for social. Most people watch on mute, and word-by-word captions keep them with you.
- Match your music to the mood. Use a short, clear prompt such as “upbeat and energetic” when you create a track from a prompt.
- Keep sound effects light. A few well-placed effects add polish, while too many pull focus from your message.
- Set your ratio before you export. Portrait suits TikTok and Reels, landscape suits YouTube, and square suits a feed post.
